Gold Records

How can one describe in just a few simple words the vast subject of Golden Records? Well, let us try here to cope with that matter

Music awards like these were first made in the 40s of the twenty century in very simple way. The first phonographic award of that kind was just a square made out of wooden bar with a glass that protected a 12" record with an add-on in a form of encrypted plaque with short simple info on it. It was awarded in recognition of a high value sales to the famous Glenn Miller Orchestra for theirs "Chattanooga Choo Choo" single

But as time went by, there were created certain rules by the RIAA which spawned a new kind of recognition, which was named Platinum Record [after the even more precious material than gold]. Records holders of today's era, can even receive a Multiplatinum Award or even the much anticipated Diamond Award, which at the moment is the highest possible in music industry around the whole world

And as the levels of sales went through the roofs of recordings studios, so did the looks of these musical trophies hanged on the walls of bureaus of audio industry executives and phonographic tycoons. Nowadays there are just no rules what so ever to how awards like these should be made. Some musician and producers prefer implementation of original compact discs, others want them to be "oldschool" and prefer having a 12" record inside and some other people order only mounted posters with some graphics taken from the CD booklet of a given album. So today, something called a Golden Record can look exactly as it would in the late 70s of the twenty century or it can be "ripped off" of its naming component- the vinyl record

And those are the [not so long] answers to the problem of how you can make this large musical subject into a simple [but still substantial] presentation. Because Platinum and Golden Records Awards can be talked about for a very long time- but we just do not have the time to do so
